DTAS Data Ingestor

The Data Ingestor is the component of the Data Server that archives the spacecraft engineering data received from the MOC operations system. The data Ingestor converts the data found in the input files into the format used by the COTS database that is the heart of the DTAS data server. This process can run automatically or at the operators command.

The automatic data ingestion process is as follows:
  1. The Data Ingestor periodically checks the file delivery directory until input files are received,
  2. Files are read one at a time,
  3. If the list of mnemonics in the file contains valid mnemonics that are not yet in the database, new tables are created to accommodate them,
  4. The data is read and converted into the internal format used by the database,
  5. The data is sent to the tables associated with each mnemonic (one table per mnemonic),
  6. The data file is deleted,
  7. If mores files are left, steps two through seven are repeated until the input directory is empty.
To enable this process, the user must:

Select the database.
